POWERVR G6630 Review

Imagination Technologies could not say much less experienced users but surely the PowerVR brand, product successfully for several years, identifies all for a family of graphics solutions for the mobile world of widespread diffusion. PowerVR GPU fifth generation such as are found in various SoC used in tablets and smartphones and belong to the same family as some IGP integrated in Intel. The most famous product to use graphics Imagination Technologies is however without doubt the family of Apple iPad , whose performance in the field of gaming have always been out of the question. These days the company , however, has announced the availability of a new model, belonging to the sixth generation  PowerVR G6630 , which should introduce several improvements and that, according to the manufacturer, the mobile solution should become more powerful in the market , thus beating the competition of competitors just as important as its ARM Mali , Qualcomm Adreno GPUs and even Nvidia GeForce ULP integrated in Tegra SoC.

At present, the company has not released many technical details, but the future graphics processor should make use of a new lithographic process and a completely new architecture than the previous generation, called Rogue which, as stated by the same Imagination Technologies, should ensure performance up to 60 times higher than their counterparts of the fifth series, from 100 GFLOPS over 1 TFLOPS of computing power. The GPU should host in your core or Unified Shading Array Cluster , as defined by the manufacturer, 6 units of calculation, here called Cluster Shading, joined in pairs by a Shared Texture Pipeline .
The PowerVR G6630 should also ensure also an excellent energy saving by being able to switch off one or more Shading Cluster in a dynamic manner, depending on the instantaneous workload. The new PowerVR should ultimately also support the graphics library OpenGL ES 3.0/2.0/1.1, OpenGL 3.x/4.x, OpenCL 1.x and DirectX 10 and 11.1 , thus being suitable to work in synergy with the new Microsoft OS Windows 8 . If the timing of the release on the market will be well researched so the PowerVR G6630 could really be the most powerful ultra mobile GPU on the market and could therefore support a new generation of video games with advanced graphics never seen before on your tablet or smartphone.
